Shockwave Therapy is a fast and effective non-invasive method of eliminating or reducing many painful conditions of the musculoskeletal system. It uses an electro-magnetic generator to physically transmit high-energy acoustic waves and to radially (spherically) spread these into the body. This stimulates and accelerates the healing process.
The original application of focused shockwaves with extremely short duration and very high peak pressures - use of the first lithotriptor for shattering kidney stones (focused shockwave), that can be reach and destroy the solid bodies inside the human body without damaging overlying tissue (1980) - has now developed into an alternative, safe and low-cost method of treatment for orthopedic problems, Men's health incl. erectile dysfunction and for the treatment of Scars and Cellulite with virtually identical efficiency.
Active Release Techniques - ART
ART® is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique. It treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions were ART® can be
applied to resolve the problem. All of the above problems have in common that they are often a result of overused muscles.
During the session our ART® physiotherapist combines examination and treatment. The physiotherapist uses his hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with specific patient movements.

Gentle to firm pressure is applied to the spinal joints based on the symptoms and the examination results and the treatment plan. The aim is to reduce muscle spasm around the joints and to increase the natural glide of the joints. In some cases spinal manipulation is indicated to restore the natural function of the spinal joints. A high velocity small amplitude thrust will be applied at the end of the range of a particular joint in order to increase the range of the joint and to enable to body to regain its function. Mobilisation and manipulation techniques can also be applied to peripheral joints such as shoulders, knees & ankles.
A technique designed to gently stretch tight and restrictive muscles. he therapist stretches the tight muscle for a set duration of time. This protocol is repeated a number of times slowly increasing range of motion, increasing flexibility, and reducing discomfort and pain.
Real Time UltraSound
Using a diagnostic ultrasound, we can watch your different layers of muscles contract, relax and most importantly look at their muscle contraction timing, size and even how much fatty tissue is contained within your withered old muscles. Yes, it's just like seeing an unborn baby. Ultrasound physiotherapy can be used for most common conditions.
Manual therapy is often used to treat symptoms such as joint, muscle and nerve pain. It can be utelised in the treatment of repetitive strain injuries as well as post operatively. Stiff joints as well as tight muscles often need to be mobilised and released to enable the body to regain its full function and capacity. Manual therapy can be applied in the form of ART, massage, muscle energy techniques, joint mobilisation/manipulation.
Acupuncture has a history of over 3000 years in traditional Chinese medicine and has become generally accepted in medical circles in the West in the last 50 years. Western Medical and other Health Care Practitioners have embraced either the traditional oriental and/or the medical approach to acupuncture. Both approaches have been shown to be effective. Acupuncture has been recognised for many years as a complementary practice in Physiotherapy. The practice of acupuncture supports physiotherapy helping to relieve pain. It aids return of function by reducing muscle tension and restoring range of movement. Acupuncture is beneficial for both chronic and acute conditions and can help treating: Low Back Pain, Neck and Shoulder Pain, Arthritis, Bursitis, Fibromyalgia, Muscle strains, Trigger points, joint pain and referred pain.

Matrix Rhythm Therapy
Matrix Rhythm Therapy is a method developed by scientists from clinical-based scientific studies related to cell biology, conducted at Erlangen University in Germany. This new therapy method, used successfully for physiotherapy and physical treatment, is based on the characteristics of cells examined under special microscopes called “vital microscopes”, which show the vital conditions of cells. The headpiece of this specially shaped therapy device is designed to cause the same physiological vibrations that are unique to our Body. These vibrations are mechanically applied externally to the Body to stimulate the skeletal muscles and the nervous system harmonically and rhythmically without causing pain. As a result, metabolism will return to normal in a very short period of time, thus restoring the healing and renewal process in the tissues at a cellular level.
Physiosync has been providing services to the community for over 23 years. Our experienced therapists are treating patients with sporting injuries, work injuries, post surgery, and many different aches and pains. As part of the treatment, we assess posture and create proper posture awareness through correction & exercise - essential for injury prevention or treatment for lower back pain. Increasingly we are treating patients with repetitive strain injury (RSI). The modern economy has shifted more and more from manual work to work using technologies such as computers, tablets and lap tops and with an increased number of hours spent sitting rather than moving around. This puts a lot of strain on our body especially the spine, shoulders, and the associated muscles resulting in increasing RSI numbers.
Over the past months we have seen the number of students attending our clinics increasing. The main complaints were neck, back and shoulder pain in conjunction with arm and wrist pain. These conditions are all related to an increased use of computers both at school and at home in conjunction with less activity. We have discovered a lack in postural control and strength in those students, but also a restricted knowledge in regards to the prevention of the above problems.
In order to increase the knowledge base on how to minimise the risk of RSI and to increase targeted activities such as regular stretching and strengthening of involved muscles we are offering a free seminars on Ergonomics and Posture for Schools.
